What Personal Data We Collect And Why We Collect It

“Personally Identifiable Information” refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, financial profiles, social security number, and credit card information.

Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (that is, without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.

What Personally Identifiable Information is collected?

We limit the collection of personaly identifiable user information on this website to confirmed opt-ins from email subscribers and visitors who initiate contact through our contact form.

Additional information collected on this site that could be considered identifiable may include IP addresses and may be collected by third-party services  and organizations (see below).

How does the Site use Personally Identifiable Information?

We use Personally Identifiable Information to customize the Site and content for the Site. We may email Visitors and Subscribers about research or purchase and selling opportunities on the Site or information related to the subject matter of the Site. We may also use Personally Identifiable Information to contact Visitors and Authorized Customers in response to specific inquiries, or to provide requested information.

The section below provides more details about how this site uses data collected from users.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.

The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Currently, we do not allow visitors to post comments on this site, so no user information is being collected via the comments feature.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We use an image compression plugin on the site (Smush by WPMU DEV). Note: Smush does not interact with end users on your website. The only input option Smush has is to a newsletter subscription for site admins only. Smush sends images to the WPMU DEV servers to optimize them for web use. This includes the transfer of EXIF data. The EXIF data will either be stripped or returned as it is. It is not stored on the WPMU DEV servers.

Smush uses a third-party email service (Drip) to send informational emails to the site administrator. The administrator’s email address is sent to Drip and a cookie is set by the service. Only administrator information is collected by Drip. For more information, see WPMU’s privacy policy.

Opt-In Forms

We only collect first name and email address details of subscribers for the purposes of sending them the information they have opted in to receive and these details are stored with our email service provider (Aweber).

Contact Forms

We use a contact form plugin on the site. Data collected by the plugin may include IP address, user agent, name, email address, website, and message.

Emails sent through our contact form are stored in our email application and then either deleted after a response has been sent, or kept if we need to store it for our records and archived after 6-12 months.

If you submit details on the site using our contact form, we may delete it immediately upon acting on your request or keep your personal data on file for up to 12 months for customer service purposes only. We do not use the information submitted through our contact form for marketing purposes.
